THIS IS RECOMMENDED READING FOR ALL CREWMEMBERS WHO ARE ,OR ARE IN TRAINING TO BE, AN OFFICER OR ABOVE IN THE CREW. Love Halo.

Reponsibilieties Before ye leave port and durring the pilly:
1. You are resposible for keeping the ship supplied- you can only stock at inhabited islands. You Must have rum and cannon balls in order to sail and battle safely. Having Officers on board will utilize more rum than having non officers on board so stock up. If ye run out of rum while sailing the crew and you will get rum sickness ( see yypedia). Remember booty plundred depleates the supplies also. Supplies are in the hold and can be managed by any officer aboard at the hold.

2. Hiring the jobbers and calling all hands when needed is done at the nav station. Ye can hire jobbers that have applied from any station but ye must be in the ahoy tab. Remember to take down job offer if your vessle has the needed crew. More pirates on board equals more pirates to divide the booty between not egnough pirates aboard can lead to losing battle and booty pundered.

3. Over seeing the stationing of pirates aboard. It is your responsibility to "order" pirates to the needed stations and monitor that no one has abonded and moved to another station. Jobbers are notorious for moving stations at the worst times without warning. To order a pirate to a station click on the pirate name and the station ye want to order them to (at the nav station) and watch the chat box for the order to appear, continue to monitor that the pirate actually does what you ordered them to or that they chat back why they are not following orders.

4. Generally the officer in charge will also be the bnaver however in some adventures it is better to keep these two jobs seperate and one pirate act as an XO and handle all non navigatting aspects while the other act as just a bnaver.

5. Communication- it is your responsibility to communicate to the crew some examples of needed and recomended communications are below:
A.Durring the pilly while NOT in battle: Organize what pirates are at what stations and who will be your battel gunners ect. Move pirates as needed. Welcome aboard all jobbers, after the pilly or at each port ask if anyone wants to join the crew. Comment on any Excels or Incred in the duty report (everyone likes to be recognized for good work). Say good byes to any pirates whom have to go and leave the vessle ( this makes pirates feel good about being with you and helps to ensure that you can get jobbers in the future).
B. In BATTLE: Remind pirate to team up and to work in teams of two and three no solos, remind pirates to attack cleaver and Falcs first or Gaunts and chains first, manage pirates stationing as needed, encourage pirates at grapple with good lucks ect., good job type comments for anyone who does well in the rumble or SF. Also it is a good idea to remind them no teams of four as this allows the enemy bots to use instas against your crew. Ye may also choose to mention that if a pirate sees multiple enemy bots are attacking them they can stall and give your crew a chance to eliminate the enemy by not using there space bars.

C. It is also a good idea to limit any communications by jobbers that can have a negative effect on the crew such as whinners and those who degrade or put down other jobbers or crew members.

These are not the only communications ye will need to make it gives ye some reminders of what makes a successful pillying/adventurring officer.

6. Divind the booty: This is done at your vessles booty chest. Here is where ye can plus one or more, or minus pirates whom have been on board with ye durring the pillying. Some points to consider: some crews/officers will plus one all jobbers as way of encouraging pirates to want to job for them, some officers will plus one for excel or incred on duty reports, some officers may choose to minus pirates for poor poor attitudes/leaving in the middle of battle/ not following officers orders/ect. HOW YOU DIVIDE THE BOOTY ON YOUR PILLAGE IS UPTO YOU.

7. port or sail orders are the officer who is charges responsibility.

BNAV Tips and Stragies:
These are not the only stragies however they some to consider and use as you wish.

1. HIT AND RUN- Fire a few shots usually reccomend two to three if ye can do it safely, then move away from the enemy ship to a safer area. Repair any damage you took, and load up guns again. If you managed to hit the enemay with 2-3 shots then they will have a high carp and bilge and will run out of movement tiles soon so they become sitting ducks and easy targets, but beware the same applies to your vessle take to many shots and ye can end up dead in the waters( no movemnet tiles to play).

2 Auto targetting- (i recomend ye sail with autotargetting off but it is ultimately your choice) some pro's and con's to both ways listed here:
Auto targeting off:
advantages- The "bot" enemies will still engae you every few league points usually around 2-5 and if you lose the battle you can rengage to get back the booty lost. You will not be auto enaged in PVP's= player vrs. palyer battles.
disadvantages- You are less likey to able to engauge in PVP if interested.
Auto targetting On:
advantages- Better chances of engaging in pvp's.
disadvantages- You are now considered the engager and not the enemy bots, so if you lose you can NOT rengage, you will recieve a message about the crew being weary and needing to rest before another battle so NO chance to recovery lost booty.

3. PVP= player vrs. player battles- beware that engaging in too many against one crew or flag can motivate that crew or flag to declare war against your whole crew or flag. PVP Bnaving is less predictabel and more dangerous your opponents skill levles are not in any set range as in a pilly and you never know how many pirates are on board the "enemy" vessle when ye attack, so you could end up out numbered in the SF or rumble.

4. Setting the vessles type of journey- This is where you click evading, pillying, smh,ect so that the job appears in the right spot when ye post the job. It is also where ye set what level of bot enemies ye start out battling. Some points on enemy toughness to note even if you set the gauge as easy to medium briggands and barbarians everytime you win a battle the enmey bots will get a little bit tougher for that pilly- this does not apply to PVP's. In a PVP it is your opponent Bnav that determines how hard the naving is and it is the enemy crew numbers that determines how outnumbered you are or are not in SF or rumble.

5. Timing the Hourglass Theory: Please note this is a theary NOT a proven tatic:
Some navers will change or enter or remove the movement tiles, cannons and grapples just as they see the hourglass timer is about to run out. The theory is that this confuses the bots making the bnaver have an advantage over the enemy, as they did not have to react to your changes. This does not always work in your favor and can result in the time running out and movemnet tiles or cannons and grapples not being played in that round. USE THIS THEORY AT YOUR OWN RISK.

6. Time of the battles: This is the one puzzle that is NOT SPEED RATED. your ranking does not go up for grappling quickly. The way to get your ranking up is by assuring that ye have max damage your opponets as often as possible before ye grapple or get grappled and by limiting the damage ye take on durring the battles. TAKE YOUR TIME. PLAY SMART. The more damage ye cause and the less ye take the better yer ranking will in bnav will be.

Expeditions:
These are awarded to the crew for winning battles, there are three types (explained below).
If an expedition is awarded to a crew and your naver divides the booty then the expedition will be lost.
Burried Treasure- you will have to nav to a specific league point that will apear on your nav station map usually not to far off your current course. Once at the location the crew must dig up the buried treaure. The puzzle that appears is the foraging puzzle. Once the expedition is completed ye will recieve a chat box massage statting something like the hoard has been cleared out. At this time your crew should return to the vessle and continue to where ever ye navigate to. Once ye bring this aboard ye need to protect it until ye divide the booty.
Treasure haul- As above a spot will appear on the nav map for you to nav to, once at that point the crew will haul treaure from a partially sunken vessle. Each pirate doing the treasure haul will get an intial cut of the haul immediately the rest goes into the booty. The portion in the booty has to be protected until the officer divides the booty. The expedition is completed or lost once the treasure haul is done or the officer divides the booty.
Briggandking/Queen- This is the rarest of the three expeditions and is usually rewarded to the better Bnavers. The enemy vessle will appear on your bnav map and is usually 1-2 leagues away and coming toward the vessle from any direction. The enemy vessle will often be 1-2 sizes larger than the vessle you are opperatting and the enemy strength will always be at least medium to hard NEVER EASY. Battling a larger vessle also means that once grappled your crew will usually be outnumbered by at least 2-4 bots. THE BRIGGANDKING/QUEEN WILL NOT ENGAGE YOU, YOU HAVE TO BE THE ENGAGER SO IF YOU LOSE THE BATTLE YOU CAN NOT RENGAGE AND YOU WILL LOSE THE EXPEDITION AT THAT TIME. In addition the enemy vessle will disappear off your map once it is a certain distance from your vessle or if you port. IN GENERAL IT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA TO ENGAGE IN THIS EXPEDITION IF YOU DO NOT HAVE EGNOUGH CREW OR IF YE HIGH BILGE OR DAMAGE AND IF YE ARE NOT A STRONG AND CAPABLE BNAVER.

Codes of Conduct:
1 As an officer in the crew it is your job to set the example for jobbers and crewbies alike in how to conduct yourself: this means you listen and are caring not a B**** to pirates on board, ye need to keep an eye out for any pirates that are cheating and handle them carefully but in the matter that is best for the crew ( see cheating bellow). You must be able to listen to and consider the feelings and concerns of the crew, No one pirates wishes should be placed above the goals and wishes of the crew. This also means you also have to know what your crew members like and dont like as far as crew and flag actions (pillying, governing islands, blockades, smh's, atlantean runs, viking runs, ect.)

2. Ye Must be active and run what ever type of adventures or pillys your crew supports. Ye must also make sure that you are available for crew and flag meetings when they are scheduled. Ye must complete what ever officer training your crew has in place, and not run pillys on your own until the crews highier ranking officers or training officers have okayed that.

3. CHEATING- there are ways belive it or not to cheat in this game (it came as a suprize to me to). On Ocassion the ocenmasters will purge the ocean of suspected cheaters and when this happens those pirates whom are believed to be cheating can be banned from the site in addition on rare occasion crews and hearties can get suspected of cheating because of their involvment and activity with the cheating pirates. If you suspect a pirate of cheating my recomendation to you is that mute that pirate to limit your conversatiosn with them and decreasing risk of ye being linked to them, inform the crew SO or Captain ASAP and if yer suspission warrant it report the pirate to the oceanmaster for them to investigate. NO ONE WNATS T BE ACCUSED OF CHEATTING SO BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REPORT SOMEONE FOR THIS. Notitfy the crew captain or SO if they feel like your suspissions warent then they can take action to expel the pirate from the crew to protect the crew.

Posted by Halowins- Rember everyone wants to play this game for FUN, when it gets to stressfull then pirates stop logging on and jobber stop applying if they arent happy. SO HAVE FUN.
DO NOT EXPECT TO BE PERFECT. Allow time to learn this skill and pratice in the navy as ye need to, as a hint even though ye practice with bots in the navy i would still practice all teh chats so that it becomes habit it will increase your wins in the long run.
FAIR WINDS AND FULL SAILS FRIENDS GO FORTH AND HAVE FUN PLEASE from halowins.
